An implant is essentially a "screw" that is drilled into the jawbone to replace the root of a tooth. A dental crown is then attached to it, most often.

For crowns, we use materials that contribute to faster recovery and also to the longevity of the new teeth. You can choose from a variety of prosthetic materials, but we most often work with a combination of metal and ceramic or glass ceramic. This is a special hardened ceramic that is close in hardness to metal, but has similar properties to the tooth and looks like it too. Such a restoration is virtually indistinguishable from the actual teeth.
